Luna Papa (1999)

Luna papa is a fantasy set in the desert near Samarkand. It stars the Kazan-born actress Chulpan Hamatova and Moritz Bleibtreu, the German star of 'Lola Rennt'. It is the story of star-struck Mamlakat, who is conned by a visiting actor into a night of passion and finds herself pregnant. She then has to deal with the condemnation of her fellow villagers whilst searching for the father of her child. She is aided by her father and shell-shocked brother Nasreddin (Bleibtreu). It is an enchanting film, with a wonderful soundtrack.
